Dive, Dive, Dive!!!!

Excellent to see that the Scottish FA have brought in video evidence so that players can be punished for diving aka simulation. For me it's the biggest turnoff when watching football these days - and forget trying to watch a game of football between two foreign teams. I do blame the influx of foreign players into the premiership as being the root cause of the problem here. It seems to be the done thing on the continent that cheating is just part of the game.

I've said for a long time this should be done and it's great to see Scotland leading the way. I just hope they stamp on it straight away, the best form of prevention will be deterring the players from doing it in the first place. I hope it is successful and does get introduced in the premiership and further afield as soon as possible.

It would be great to see this expanded so that video evidence could also be used to punish other offences that go unnoticed. Barely a premiership weekend will go by without having to hear of some scandalous off the ball incident taking place that ought to punished retrospectively but unless the referee sees it at the time or it's mentioned in his report then it's ignored. It would be nice to clean the game up of the likes of El-Hadji Diouf to name but one!

Fashion (non)Sense II

Remember that story I posted back in March about bad fashion sense? No? Well go and read it here and come back when you are done...

Recapped? Well it turns out I'm not the only one who thinks this way. The mayor of Louisiana is set to ban the baggy trouser look and offenders will be fined $500 and face up to 6 months in prison. Top quote from Mr Carol Broussard, "They're better off taking the pants (ed. trousers to you brits) off and just wearing a dress.". Read more here.

Our crusade to free the world of such ridiculous fashion statements continues...

Back one-and-a-half somersaults, tuck!!

No not the swimming variety - I've just finished watching Braga vs Tottenham and I'm ready for a rant!

I know Sepp Blatter is a regular visitor to this blog. Sepp - if you were watching tonight you have to do something about diving in football. The sport can be such a spectacle but it can be totally ruined when players are blatently cheating to win games. Braga's two goals both came from obvious simulation. Referee's can't be trusted to get these decisions right but if we started giving out yellow and even red cards retrospectively I think you'd find the problem dissappeared pretty quickly.

Thankfully Tottenham are vastly superior so it shouldn't pose a problem progressing to the next round but we all know how big a problem this is on the continent. It's creeping into the great British game too (I blame Becks) but would like it stopped before we end up the same!!

It's a great game - let's keep it that way!

Fashion (non)Sense

Today's rant - what is it with today's male youth's walking around with their jeans hanging half way down their arses? The only thing I can think is it must be some extra curricular Physics work from School to see how far they can take gravity before their trousers fall to their ankles. It's got to the point where their belts have to be tightened to the point of cutting off the blood supply. Most of these guys look particularly stupid to start with and can little afford to starve the brain of any oxygen.

Guys - you look like idiots - quit it!!
